About · WXRK / 2026 / 01

Nobody should need 250 rejections.

WXRK started with one person, more than 250 applications, and a simple realization: you can’t be everything to everyone. This is the why behind the product — and the how we’re fixing it.

The start

Our story
Built from rejection

I was between jobs, applying to more than 250 roles. Doing what most people do when they’re lost: listening to every podcast I could find, reading every book about job searching, absorbing every framework. Hours of it. Honestly, too much of it.

One episode cut through the noise. On Lenny’s Podcast, Phyl Terry — author of Never Search Alone — talked about candidate-market fit. The idea is simple and kind of obvious once you hear it: just as product people look for product-market fit, job seekers need to find where they actually fit the market. You can’t be everything to everyone.

▸ The shiftStop casting a net. Throw a spear.

So I stopped applying everywhere and started applying to the right places. I built a system around it — honest fit scoring, per-role CVs, a real read of my own gaps before sending anything.

the odds, multiplied. Same person, same history — a sharper read of where it actually fit.

WXRK is that system. Built because nobody should need 250 rejections to figure this out.

Why

The problem
Signal, not talent

Most people apply blind. Same CV, fifty roles, forty rejections, no idea why. The advice is out there — in podcasts, in books, in frameworks like candidate-market fit — but it’s scattered, and piecing it together on your own takes months of trial and error.

Resume builders don’t help. They just produce a nicer-looking version of the same document you were already sending. The average job seeker applies to 50–200 roles and gets no useful feedback at any point in the process.

▸ The reframeThat’s not a talent problem. It’s a signal problem.

WXRK gives you the signal before you send: what fits, what doesn’t, and exactly why.

Our vision

Where this goes
Knowledge you can use

Nobody should need 250 applications to understand how they fit the market. That knowledge exists.

WXRK makes it something you can actually use before you apply — not something you piece together six months later.
